British Masters 2011

PSUK Swim Team add more World Records

The British Masters Championships took place from 17th-19th June 2011 at the John Charles Centre for Sport, Leeds.

12 PSUK swimmers competed at the three day event. The team as a whole had a very successful weekend. They continued their success from earlier in the year adding a further 2 Masters World Records in the relay events.

Epic Swim Coniston 2011

The newly formed PSUK Open Water Swimming Team took part in their first event, the Epic Swim Series in May 2011. The event was held in Lake Coniston over the Bank Holiday weekend and the team had 10 police swimmers entered. The event comprised of 3 races, a 500m, 1.5km & 3.8km swim.

Welsh Open Masters 2011

The PSUK swimming team competed in their 4th and final fixture of the season at the Welsh Open Masters in Swansea. This is an event that the team have competed at previously but not for a couple of years. Entry numbers were clearly down; however, this did not affect the quality swims produced by the team.

PSUK Championships 2011 @ Cardiff

The 2011 PSUK Swimming & Waterpolo Championships took place at the Cardiff International Pool over the weekend of 2-3rd April 2011. 38 Forces and just under 300 competitors took part in the event.

3 individual and 5 relay PSUK Records were broken during the course of the weekend. Hayley Bird, West Midlands smashed the 100 backstroke record by some 3.5 seconds in a time of 65.06, the previous record had stood for 16 years.

Triangular Tournament 2010

The PSUK swim team narrowly missed out on victory at the annual triangular swimming event in Aldershot. Teams from the Combined Services (Army, Navy & RAF), Civil Service & Police Sport UK competed in 15 individual events and 5 relay events.

As always the event was of a fast pace, the whole competition took little over an hour to complete. With teams having to provide 2 swimmers per event the competition took its toll.
